Apple has reportedly rolled back its latest watchOS 3.1.1 update for the Apple Watch following the complaints regarding the new OS update bricking the smartwatch from Apple. Many users have complained that the latest update is bricking their Series 2 Apple
Watch models, which has forced the company to roll back the update and
its is no longer available in the Watch app with watchOS 3.1 listed as
the most recent update for those who had not downloaded and installed
the latest update.
The whole incidence started when Apple recently pushed the watchOS 3.1.1 update for the Apple Watch, but shortly after the update was released, early adopters starting reporting that the update is reportedly bricking their smartwatch.
As noted by MacRumors, the affected Apple Watches are showing a red exclamation mark on the screen and instructs the users to visit the Apple support page. The page suggests users to perform a force restart. In order to perform force restart, one has to hold the side button and Digital Crown simultaneously, and if this doesn't work then you have to take it to the nearest Apple authorised service centre. Mostly likely, the device will be replaced as the services centres or the retail stores are not authorised to access the diagnostic port on any of the Apple devices.
As of now, Apple has not publicly acknowledged the issue and it is still unclear as to how long it will take the Cupertino based company to release the update again. Most likely, Apple is expected resolve the bug that is causing this issue and release the update in the near future.
