Google has started rolling out the next
incremental update for the latest Android Nougat. As confirmed by Dave
Burke, VP of Engineering, Google, the new update is currently being
rolled out in beta and can be installed by anyone who wants to test the
new update.
As of now, the developer preview or the
beta version of Android 7.1.2 is rolled out for select Google devices
including the new Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus Player, Pixel C and the
LG-made Nexus 5X. Further, the update for the Nexus 6P is in works and
will be out soon.
Burke said - “We’re expecting to launch
the final release of the Android 7.1.2 in just a couple of months, Like
the beta, it will be available for for Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus
6P, Nexus Player, and Pixel C devices.”
As mentioned before, this update is just
another incremental update and focuses on refinements which include
some bug fixes and optimisations along with some carrier-specific
enhancements.
If you have a device that is eligible
for the new update, head on to android.com/beta and choose to receive
the update post which you will receive the latest developer preview on
your device.
Further, Google has also confirmed that
this update will not be released for Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 tablet. As
reported by Droid Life, both the devices which were released back in
2014 has already received their last OS update except the security
patches. This was expected as Google promised the update support for
both the above-mentioned devices till October 2016, however, the search
engine giant went on and released Android 7.1.1 update for Nexus 9 in
December 2016 and for Nexus 6 in January 2017.
Meanwhile, the current Pixel lineup
recently went on sale on Snapdeal with up to Rs 10,000 cashback. Before
this, the device was only available via Flipkart.
