Starting today, you can receive Gmail
attachments weighing up to 50MB. In the latest blog post from G Suite
(Google), Gmail users will now be able to receive large files as
attachments (50MB), however, you can still send attachments up to 25MB
per email. In other words, to send a file up to 50MB to someone’s Gmail,
one has to send it via Google Drive to the concerned user’s email ID.
The update will be rolled out for all the users in 1-3 days.
The blog post read - “Sending and
receiving attachments is an important part of email exchanges. While
Google Drive offers a convenient way to share files of any size,
sometimes you need to receive large files as direct email attachments.
So starting today, you will be able to receive emails of up to 50MB
directly.”
Well, even though the ability to send a
large file as attachments haven’t made its way to Gmail, having the
ability to receive files up to 50MB in your Gmail inbox is a welcome
change. In order to send and receive files larger than 50MB, one will
still have to use Google’s cloud service - Google Drive.
Meanwhile, the search engine giant recently confirmed
that its AI-powered Google Assistant will soon land on all Android
Nougat (7.0+) and Android Marshmallow (6.0) devices. The first device
which comes with Google Assistant on board, apart from Pixel devices, is
the LG G6. Not only this, Moto G5, G5 Plus and all the upcoming Nokia
smartphones will also have Google Assistant on board.
